Consumer Credit Counseling Service of New Hampshire and Vermont (CCCS of NH & VT) is a non-profit community service organization founded in 1972 by a group of NH community bankers seeking to help those having difficulty managing their personal finances. Today, CCCS of NH & VT provides confidential, expert, unbiased individual budgeting, money management, credit, and debt counseling; bankruptcy counseling; housing counseling; and reverse mortgage counseling. With the exception of bankruptcy counseling, all counseling is offered free of charge. CCCS of NH & VT also provides free educational programming to groups covering these same subjects.
In addition, CCCS of NH & VT offers a Debt Management Program (DMP) option – individually structured credit card and debt repayment plans arranged and approved with credit card companies and managed by case managers at the agency. A low monthly service fee (based on household income) is charged.
CCCS of NH & VT’s programs and services are based on a philosophy of self-help, empowerment, and personal financial responsibility. All services are designed to benefit consumers, provide objective information, clarify options and help people take charge of their money.
